A SHIRI ACHU ART EXHIBITON: 35INPRINT LONDON

Hello People..TGIF...Bringing you the 411 on an artist and event in London!

Shiri Achu Art Exhibition; 35InPrint: London
19th - 25th April 2014
The Strand Gallery; 32 John Adam Street, London, WC2N 6BP.
Private view/Opening party ON Saturday 19th April 2014; FROM; 6pm-10pm

Shiri Achu’s art comes from everyday, unsurprising yet unexpectedly vivid moments, times, places and objects. She seeks to capture the spirit of her subjects and make them come alive through form, colour, texture and tone. She draws insight from her travels but in general her inspiration is very broad. From natural moments captured in Africa to still objects, the human form to the human in action; etc

Ever increasingly so, one of the aims of Shiri Achu’s Art is to showcase the African cultures worldwide. She finds beauty in the woman carrying her child on her back and going her way, She finds beauty in the old lady who makes here ‘achu’ in her dark outdoor kitchen for her grandchildren, She finds beauty in the African fabrics, she finds beauty, envy even, in the young girl climbing the tree!! So she paints these images. For her, they are beautiful moments and for that moment, whilst she works on that piece she buries herself in the story and in the culture.

It’s been 5 years since Shiri Achu’s first solo exhibition held at St Augustine's tower in Hackney. Since then she has been given the award of 'The best Artist in Brent' by the Brent Council, London and has been fortunate to have exhibited in various exciting places/events/ cities. These include; The Commonwealth Secretariat, The houses of Parliament and The Olympic African Village. Cities include; Adelaide, Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Las Vegas and Chiang Mai to name a few.

As well as exhibiting, Signed Limited Shiri Achu Art Prints can be bought at The Smithsonian Institution & The National museum of African Art in Washington DC USA and can also be purchased from Naprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures in Prague.
Shiri Achu Art has also been featured in the book ‘'International Contemporary Masters VII' (Published by World Wide Art Books) as well as in numerous magazines, blogs, TV shows such as BBC TV Show ‘Show me the Monet’ Series 2.

Today, Shiri Achu is excited to present to London, for one week only ‘35 In Print: London’. The exhibition will largely consist of 35 Framed Signed Limited Edition Shiri Achu Art Prints. You will be able to purchase these limited edition signed prints at very affordable prices!!
There will also be a raffle on the night.  Three lucky people will win signed limited edition framed prints worth £250 each.

£35 of every print sold and proceeds from the raffle will be used to fund an exciting project in Cameroon. Details will be revealed at the exhibition.

MUSIC THURSDAY: NoHitz NoRecords' Duo RYTHMZ Release "A LITTLE LIE, ALITTLE KILL"

Hello People, your fav music day is here...IRepCamer brings you nothing but the best!

Buea based record label, NO Hitz No Recordz Entertainment  Duo, Rythmz releases their  5th single, "A Little Lie, A Little Kill".  The duo (Kezzy & Dianee) who are already  making a mark in the urban music scene in Cameroon are ready to step onto the world stage with ‘a little lie…”

This track showcases Kezzy & Dianne at their vocal best with intricately woven lyrics to accompany the compelling story of the song. “Somebody here me out…” The theme song of the sound track of the same titled movie, "A Little Lie, A Little Kill" Rythmz is bound to make a name for themselves with this track.

Produced by Phill Bill Beats, Rythmz ride the soulful beats, telling a story about how we all tell little lies that can lead to unfortunate circumstances. “Despite all our efforts…”, people will talk behind your back, do things and lie about it, and with each lie, we kill each other slowly.

Love the cover...
Their Motivation & Inspiration?
“We live in the information age and so what we say travels faster and consequently its effects can be devastating”, says Dianee. “Everyone has gone through a situation where a lie was told about them, or they themselves lied to cover up something they were doing. When it comes back around relationships are broken, trust is lost, and in extreme circumstances, violence that leads to death”. With every lie we tell, its like stabbing someone in the back….” says Kezzy

Movie Premier Poster

Rythmz is  making the rounds with  “Bouge Ton Maka”, a fun, party song which on every DJ’s playlist in Camer. With “A little Lie A little Kill”, Rythmz brings a new dimension to their song writing and creativity. “We look forward to our fans enjoying this song and hope that our fans will take the message in the song”

CAMpreneur NGUM NGAFOR SET TO LAUNCH NEW SENSATION "AFRICALLY SPEAKING"

Hello people...The countdown is on for the release of a new sensation "AFRICALLY SPEAKING"

Quoting a recognized pillar in African History ..Patrice E Lumumba (First Prime Minister of the DR Congo)

“History will one day have its say. Africa will write its own history, and to the north
and south of the Sahara, it will be glorious  and dignified.”

Africally Speaking #AS is part of that process of writing Africa's History

CAMpreneur Editor Ngum Ngafor gives us the #AS 411

What is Africally Speaking?
Africally Speaking (AS) is a new platform that spotlights and analyses the work of African innovators and thought leaders. We look beyond the ‘who’ and ‘what’ behind game changing developments in Africa, to investigate the why and how.

Please explain the inspiration behind this platform?
AS came out of my fascination with innovation and irritation by the prevalent aid driven discourse about African development. I have been writing about and observing various aspects of the continent since 2004 and never cease to be amazed by the incredible level of innovation across it. I often felt it was a shame many of these stories went untold. Even when they got attention, the tech sector often seemed to be the magnet for most media. AS is my bid to create a more balanced view by stretching the concept of innovation beyond the confines of technology.

Who is a typical AS reader?
AS is aimed at decision makers and (business) opportunity seekers. They could be African or not and be located anywhere in the world. We are witnessing progressive growth in various sectors in Africa. To keep things that way - or even stretch further - people need to be able to make bold, informed and smart decisions. Our goal is to make AS a go-to resource for these individuals.

How will they benefit from visiting the platform?
We will publish first hand accounts from from real Africa experts - i.e. those who roll up their sleeves and get down to doing challenging work that moves the continent - and even the world -forward. These people will share experiences and insights of Africa which you would be hard pressed to find in any textbook or major TV programmes.

What makes AS special?
Firstly, our wider view of innovation. Secondly, by focusing on thought leadership, we will shine a light on fine minds with truly transformative ideas. Our site will be interactive; we plan to make it a lively marketplace of ideas. Oh and did I mention our style? We find content is best served crisp, cool and beautiful. The plan is to keep it that way without compromising quality..

Tell me of the kinds of people who will be featured on AS.
AS will feature various innovators and thought leaders across the continent and diaspora. People like international development expert TMS Ruge and Agribusiness guru Prof Calestous Juma will share valuable knowledge. We are also keen to discover new talent and lesser known stars.

Have you investigated innovation in Cameroon? What have you found?
Oh yes! And I’m proud to say innovation is alive and well in Cameroon, despite the challenges. So many young people are blazing trails in the world of business. Our nascent entertainment industry is also one to watch. But what really stands out is the tech domain. Buea is quickly gaining fame as an African tech hub to reckon with!

What does the future hold for AS?
[Laughs]. A lot, hopefully. For now, the focus is on building a reputable platform. From that, great things will surely come.

Looking Forward to the Africally Speaking launch in a few days..Can't Wait. #Africa #Innovation #Business #Technology  #Society #AS

OK people..Join the countdown. Visit the Africally Speaking Facebook page for updates.
