"IN THE MUSIC": BANYE UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL (KAMER ENTERTAINMENT INSIGHT BY ABOKI) #STOPBOKOHARAM EDITION

Hello people..It's another edition of "In The Music". This a guest blogger edition. Aboki interviews  Da BansoBoy, Banye...The 411 of his music, career, insight on the Camer music industry...and wraps up with #StopBakaram

It’s a new year! *crowd screams* New handles, new faces, new resolutions (many of us wouldn’t keep) and a new interview from me[Aboki of Abokination]. 2014 was quite a year within the 237 ecosystem and I’m anxious to see what this year unveils. So far we've had many songs and an EP released (hmm I need to check the numbers(….. * remembers that this isn't a review*

SWITCH!
Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Banye Augustine alias Banso Boy. It was more of a conversation and unlike a lot of my pieces, I raised my eye brows at some of the things he had to say. It is always quite refreshing seeing things through the eyes of others. We spoke about everything from music, his influences, Culture and Boko Haram. Just in case you don’t know who Banye is, He released the well-received track Chorkoh in 2012, Ova Sabi with Ngoma in 2013 and has been lurking ever since but it’s safe to say he is one of the most diverse rappers 237 has ever seen. He recently released a song called AMINA with Gee Reign. Banye is known for being vocal about his feelings and always puts up the ghetto attitude in all he does. So needless to say how excited I was when he accepted my request for an interview.
I hope you have fun reading this piece as I did having the conversation.

Aboki:
Thank you for granting this interview…
Banye:
My pleasure

Aboki:
You are well known within Cameroon’s ecosystem … but to those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself?
Banye:
I am Banye from Banso. Most people know me as “Bansoboy”. I am a rapper/producer/singer above all hustler.

Hello People..New Year, New Feature.."In the Music" will spotlight people in Camer entertainment.Artists, Record Labels, Producers, Video Directors and will also feature guest bloggers analysing our up and coming music industry.

Post #1 goes to Best Music Inc. Best Music Inc Boss gives us the 411 on the label and some of insights about the music industry..

Enjoy!

Who is Ebot Blaise? A brief bio?
My names are Ebot Blaise a.k.a @didiblaise, I am bayangi from Ossing. Am a graphic designer and web developer, worked with AfroVisioN Group, a co-founder of njorku.com. Founder and CEO of Best Music Inc (www.bestmusicinc.com), Kwata TV ( www.kwata.tv) and KamerBorn Awards (www.kamerbornawards.com). I write, produce and direct entertainment content particularly movie, music videos, Tv shows and concerts. I am based in Buea.

The Best Music  Journey…How did it all start?
I love music and I have a deep passion for it. My friends, Shady V (Wan Man) and Nami Nami Cyrus and I use to rap in secondary school and we were good. We separated after high school because we had different study programs to follow. In 2011, I called Nami Nami Cyrus from Yaounde talk to him about doing something serious with music, he did not hesitate. He came to Buea and we met with Young Bird who was ready for business. We called SLIMBEATZ who was in Douala at that time, he came over, and that’s how we started putting things together came up with a group called L.O.L, with a single called “Tonado” which is a club banger, whose video I directed. And that's how how Best Music Inc started creating its space in the music industry.

INTRODUCING TOKEE LALA....HER DEBUT SINGLE #PACKFINE RELEASES TOMORROW JANUARY 3rd!

Hello people..Happy New Year 2015. This is my first post of 2015 and I am starting it by introducing a new artist. This year the packaging and promotion of up and coming artists will be taken to a new level.

Kate Obi Ndumujong aka Tokee Lala  is a Cameroonian based Afro pop artist, born and raised in Cameroon, precisely in Mamfe, the South West Region. Tokee's  loved music from very a young age.... Watching artists like Whitney Houston, Fally Ipupa   made her love for music grow each day. She started considering music a career in 2009 when she started university and she discovered that but could write lyrics as well.

Tokee’s Uniqueness is here to change the Camer music industry with her hit single PACK FINE which means adjust well in our local Cameroonian broken English(pidgin). Pack fine is a fusion of RnB and a fine touch of our local African pop beat. She has stepped into the music industry to make you dance and #PACK FINE in every sense.

Pack fine, produced by SlimBeatz, will be released tomorrow 3rd Jan 2015

  NEW ARTIST ALERT
Honestly..New artists are popping up by the week..This edition's highlight for new artist is  Marc Eff  Afro-R&B producer/singer, who doubles as the CEO of Chillen Muzic Records.

The singer/producer, born Nkwain Marcel Ful, is originally from Njinikom, a tribe in the North West Region of Cameroon. Though presently a maestro, things have not always come easy for Marc Eff who has had quite a bit of a struggle on his way up the ladder of career success.
Marc Eff’s passion for music dates back to his childhood days, when at the age of 12, he developed an interest in playing the xylophone. Little did this 12-year-old know that his playing this instrument for his local traditional masquerade dances was just a tinge of an innate quality that would someday put him at the helm of a renowned recording studio.
Growing up with his elder brother Master Chill, who had a burning desire for music further ignited Marc Eff’s interest in music. The young artist, however, never got much encouragement from this end when he started singing in 2006. Having been severely frowned at for his career choice by a disapproving dad, the loving older brother, understandably, did not want the same for his kid brother.
This did not deter the young singer. On the contrary, it fueled his zeal and he wanted more than anything to follow in his brother’s steps. He kept on with his dream in the shadows, and together with his friend Abah Juventus, formed a band called the ‘So Close Crew’. Instrumental to the band’s success was Pazzo, a member of Chill’s crew at the time, who encouraged the m and helped them come out with their first demo. During this time, Marc Eff picked up a few music production tricks from Pazzo and within a short time, was able to make his first beat.
In 2007, Marc Eff met T-Max, a local voice trainer, and Ben Mbinglo, his mentor at the time, who helped him with the basics of making good music.
The singer later in 2008, got in contact with someone who according to him “..till date remains the major person who impacted my musical career extraordinarily…”, Herman Kishani. “…He even gave me the name Marc Eff, which means ‘final mark’, alluding to the unique final touch he thought I gave my music.”
By 2010, Marc Eff produced his first standard product, an album for the Voltage Crew, at the Chillen Muzic Studios, owned by his brother. The pivotal point in the artist/producer’s career came in 2011 when the Voltage Crew Album was completed and Master Chill, seeing the great potential in the young producer, decided to work with him.
Between 2012 and 2013, Marc Eff produced a couple of singles, including ‘Super Fans’, ‘Facebook Lover’, ‘Ma Functionaire’. He also produced songs for General Tozic, Mic Monsta, Witty Minstrel and Dr. Kapt, the few amongst the lot.
Marc Eff has steadily grown from a kid with an unquenchable passion to an expert with a producer’s touch that brings life to any kind of song.
About his singing, his songs tell it best…’Mbanga Don Ripe’, ‘Pull Me Back’, ‘Yah Bad’ are all part of his repertoire.

From playing the xylophone masquerade dances to becoming a great artist/producer and CEO of a top recording studio was never a jolly ride for Marc Eff…and if there is a lesson well spelt out by his journey to success, it is this-“Determination is the key to success”

STAR BOY THINGZ
Stanley Enow ft Sarkodie - Njama Njama Cow Remix.
Everyone should have seen this video by now...The remix is much better than the original which caused a big time social media controversy..lol..Camers no go kill me person. "Ma mami go for Ngaoundere for sika bele cow oh"

HIGHLIGHTS OF TODAY's MT

STEVEN's #THENEXTBIGTHING DAPHNE TO RELEASE NEW SINGLES SOON!

Hello people..I couldn't wait till Thursday.lol!!.By now you should know that I have mad love and respect for this artist. She has the potential to be as big as Nneka & Asa..Her New tracks are dropping in a week!!

Upon Reflection When Broken, You Find Love (Ndolo).

Charlotte, NC, Nov 10th 2014 - Stevens Music Entertainment announces the release of 3 new singles from Daphne.

Daphne was introduced over 3 months ago to the music world as “The Next Big Thing” out of Cameroon. Her first single “Rastafari” lived up to all expectations and is still in rotation on TV and Radio stations around the world.

“Daphne has great potential, a lovely and mature voice…and definitely possesses the ability to explore various genres” Paola Audrey, Editor of Fashiz Black Magazine & contributing editor of NotjustOk & OkayAfrica

Having established herself as an “uncompromising vocalist”, Daphne is back with three new songs off her forthcoming album. The songs show Daphne’s versatility as her vocals ride effortlessly on a Pop/Dancehall beat on “Reflection”, a soulful Afro-pop beat on “Broken” and a Makossa-Zouk infused beat on “Ndolo”.

“These tracks will no doubt establish Daphne as one of the best songwriters and vocalists out of Cameroon”. Fointama Besia, TV Personality.

“Reflection is about love redeemed…it’s about forgiveness and allowing love to come back to you,” said Daphne. The song tells the story of a lover who is around when things are good and goes away when “things dem bad…” But the best part of the song is when Daphne asks her runaway lover to “come right away, bring all your pain along let’s burn it down …”

The theme of love continues on “Broken”, a song about a girl who’s been hurt and left broken-hearted. “This song is a chapter in everyone’s love book,” says Daphne. “Especially for girls…(she laughs)…you want to love again but you are so scared…’cause you are broken”.

Her third single seems to be a solution for the first two. After being jilted on “Reflection” and left “Broken”, Daphne turns to the “food of the soul…the reason why we laugh, the reason why we cry, the reason why we smile, the reason why we live” - Ndolo (Love). She personifies love as God. “God is so beautiful, and will always be the pillar of my being,” says Daphne. “I turn to God for everything” she continues.

My message with the three songs is simple. “When you feel let down and broken into pieces, you need to reflect…reflection will lead you to the truth, will lead you to love…to God (Ndolo)”.

Daphne continues to work on her debut album to be released in 2015. These songs will continue to showcase her as a force to reckon with in the Cameroon and African music industry. The maestro AnyKindBeats produced all three songs with Shan and Oga doing additional production on “Ndolo”.

“Daphne had made a great entrance…her voice is smooth, filled with fire and fierceness. Bref, J’adore” Celine V Fotso, Editor of JeWanda Magazine

The songs will be released on itunes and other digital outlets on Nov 17th.

“I am looking forward to interacting with fans and getting their feedback on these songs. The songs were written with them in mind, so their feedback is important to me,” concludes Daphne.

NEW ARTISTS ALERT
Generally I receive tracks with very little or no info. I am glad that the producers/promoters/management of  these 3 music discoveries of the last few weeks took their time to introduce their artists.

P Rhymes ft Morena - Love u Baby
Canada's one and only Bend down low, P.RHYMES  has reintroduced
himself with another AFRO-COUPE-CUBAN hit with one of the best in the Cuban music industry Moreno Chambelo with this track titled LOVE U BABY. This track is very different in that its not just an afro-coupe decale Genre of music but it blends in with the uniqueness of cuban melodies which makes it dynamic danceable.

Ernest Tantoh popularly known as P.Rhymes was born in Cameroon and grew up in capital city called Yaounde. He began writing and rapping when he was 15  in Cameroon  within his community. He moved to Canada but didn't keep up with his writing and rapping skills but kept a low profile and chased the money making life style of North America. It all happened when he took out time to do some demos in a few  studios  in Toronto. He has  collaborated with Canadian Nigerian artists like Mustiboy and Ozee Tha Boss Boss. He joined forces one of the best music producers, Dr.Rad and a record label (I.C.U Entertainment ) was born!!

John Mary - On est a Ngola
As a tribute to his hometown; Yaounde, and in prelude to his forthcoming album " The Criminal Empire", I wish you to discover him with his first audio single, dropped in @music studios; "On est à Ngola", which is also one of most awaited video clip in the Cameroonian Game.
Captivating lyrics, punchy flow, and amazing punchlines, all in a smooth and hardcore blended style... this is John Mary A..K.A " The Bulldog Of The Rap Game".

King K - Kimbo
Months after releasing his last single JeJe, USA based Cameroon born rapper Kimbo is back with the teaser visuals to his next track KIng K. The self proclaimed "Camair's finest rapper" speaks about his absence from music, his plans henceforth plus more. Shot on Location in Maryland USA, the video was Directed By Kem Bumbara of Kemgraphy.

The Highlights of Today's MT.

Wax Dey - Makossa

As per Wax, this is his acceptance speech to the recognition as part of YPIA's Top 35 under 35  "If you no know who I be, may you google you go see". Let's just these Makossa Afrobeats fusion is just the isshhh...
This track highlights the influence of this  underrated genre  in today’s international  pop culture, and to call attention to the rise  of a new breed of Cameroonian musicians. One of the defining moments of global music  has to be the 1972 release of Manu  Dibango’s Billboard Hot 100 song, ‘Soul  Makossa’, that has been credited with the  creation of the international ‘DISCO’ sound.

But Makossa as a genre, characterized by catchy brass sections and bouncy bass riffs
that created some of Cameroon’s biggest international stars, has struggled to keep its
place in the Cameroonian urban scene. Nonetheless, its impact is still best felt through
its contribution to the new African pop sound.

In 2010, Shakira released ‘WakaWaka’, an adaptation of the 1983 Cameroonian classic ‘Zangalewa’, that partly has its roots in this genre. This came at a period when ‘Naija’ or Nigerian afrobeats is enjoying a wave of success across the world. It is also undeniable that Makossa has had a deep influence in transforming the ‘Afrobeat’ of Fela Kuti to the ‘Afrobeats’ sounds that have propelled Nigerian artists like Flavour and Iyanya to international superstardom.

A wave of Cameroonian musicians mostly from the Anglophone regions of Cameroon, to whom the world had been quite oblivious, has awoken with a new afropop sound that is impossible to ignore. They have also borrowed from Makossa, blending French phrases and their own pidgin Creole that is similar to Nigerian pidgin English. Thanks to this, Cameroon is witnessing the creation of a brand new, lively urban musical scene that is rich in texture and variety. And the rise of these artists signals a rise in social consciousness of a youth that have for decades been deemed as voiceless but who are stepping into the limelight with the assurance that their place in the social and cultural fabric of Cameroon, and Africa, can no longer be usurped.
