DESIGN SPOTLIGHT: KIBONEN NY TO UNVEIL BRAND NEW COLLECTION "UNWIND" @ MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK AFRICA

Contempo-traditional Cameroonian fashion is once again propelled to the global stage as Kibonen|NY reveals its latest ready to wear collection, Unwind, on October 31^st at 6pm, at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa, held at the City Hall in Tshwane, South Africa from October 30^th –November 02^nd.
The Unwind collection epitomizes the minimalist concept of style and comfort, and is described by designer, Kibonen Nfi, as an unadulterated representation of sensorial relaxation. A luxurious fusion of smooth, soft and colorful fabrics, designed for a smashing casual-chic look.
Fabrics used include, performance knit and lavish silk jersey, infused with an ever-evolving modernization of Kibonen|NY’s Toghu trademark, symbols central to the brand and the designer’s creative process.The Toghu is the traditional garments worn by the royalty and on special occasions by the people of the northwest and Bamileke regions of Cameroon. 

Kibonen|NY is set to showcase alongside world class designers like David Tlale, Thula Sindi, Taibo Bacar, Gavin Rajah and Marianne Fassler. Being the only designer from Cameroon and Central Africa showcasing during this prestigious fashion week, a lot of the design aesthetics will be geared at highlighting the region.

Kibonen|NY’s journey has been recognized in international publications including GQ South Africa, New African woman, Grazia Magazine,on TV such as ENews Channel Africa, Africa Magic and SABC amidst several fashion blogs and local newspapers.

Kibonen|NY’s pieces have been seen on important figures such as South Africa’s sensation – LIRA, Cameroons soul singer KAISSA, Fashion icon Dr Precious Moloi Motsepe, SA TV host Penny Lebyane among others.

MUSIC THURSDAY: MEET GOSPEL ARTIST...PROSPER MENKO...

Hello people..It's Music Thursday.I am happy to present my artist discovery of the Week.

Meet Gospel Artist, Proper Menko....

Prosper Menko (Oga, as he is popularly called) is a gospel artist, vocalist, songwriter, singer, performing and recording artist whose works are recognized worldwide.  Producing his songs under his world class record label called Highland Empire, the young multi-talented artist has been celebrated for revolutionizing Cameroon Gospel Music introducing a new and exciting twist with his new blend of Afro Pop and RnB and a fuse of Njang.

The 1^st of January Cameroonian born youngster has been a musician from the age of 10 and is the current Christ Embassy Bamenda Church vocal coordinator. He has received musical recognition from Vinyard Entertainment for the years 2011 and 2012.

In the aftermath of the recent spread of his, soul lifting, earth quaking gospel hits such as “Preach the Word”, “Do the Word”, “Holy Ghost Party” just to name a few the best of Prosper Menko is still to be felt. His album lunch and video release are scheduled for November and December respectively so stay tuned.
